She had not planned it in advance, but Megan decided she felt well enough to go on a shopping trip to Orland Park. Deb and Megan stayed inside, and while Deb was working around the house, Megan started to plan her big social event for the day. I took advantage of a free morning to try and organize our garage that has been in disarray since we moved back home. Kenzie had volleyball practice at 9:00 a.m., so right after breakfast she had to get to the high school. Megan’s Journey has taught me that every single beautiful moment has to be treasured. Once again, this morning was one of those moments that I may have taken for granted in the past, but no more. Everyone was awake by 8:00 a.m., so we were able to enjoy a family breakfast and catch up with one another.
The girls requested biscuits and gravy, so I started cooking at about 7:30 a.m. It was Saturday morning, and we were all home, which meant our traditional family breakfast. I know that will be welcome news to Megan, because she really hates those unexpected hospital stays for low blood counts that can happen between chemo cycles. If her counts are good on Tuesday, I think we will be able to officially say that Round #15 is a distant memory. She doesn’t go back to the hospital for blood work until next Tuesday, so we won’t know for sure if her blood counts are holding up until then. Round #15 of her chemo cycles ended on Tuesday, and ever since, Megan has been working hard to recover.
